Description for Gite

Welcome to "Les Caselles," a farmhouse on the Causse that combines local history with sustainable, quality tourism. Dating back to the 17th century, this authentic Aveyron building in the Grands Causses Natural Park showcases the craftsmanship of the renowned builders from the nearby village of Saint-Beauzely.

Situated near Millau, the Gorges du Tarn, and the Larzac plateau, Saint-Beauzely is the birthplace of the builders of the Templar and Hospital cities' fortifications, such as La Couvertoirade, La Cavalerie, and Sainte-Eulalie de Cernon.

Once a large-scale Causses farm in the charming hamlet of Azinières, "Les Caselles" played a significant role in the production of the famous Roquefort cheese. The farm covered over 400 hectares and allowed the sheep to graze on the unique flora of the Causse Rouge.

Over time, the farm faced challenges, and neglect threatened the proud Caussenarde building. However, in the year 2000, a buyer embarked on an extraordinary renovation project with the vision of creating a farm inn. Thus, "Les Caselles" came to life, welcoming its first travelers.

Today, Mikaël and Alizée Pélégry have taken over the farmhouse, driven by their commitment to quality and ecological transition for sustainable and responsible tourism. Mikaël, formerly a director at a Parisian theater, reevaluated his priorities after major events in the performing arts industry in 2015. The birth of their daughter further motivated him to make a life change and return to Aveyron, his family's birthplace.

Determined to address environmental challenges, Mikaël and Alizée set out to transform the old farmhouse into an eco-friendly, low-energy home. With the help of local companies, the building now houses five top-of-the-range guest rooms, a charming gite, and various communal and private areas, all with energy consumption comparable to a single-family home.

Proudly offering high-performance, eco-responsible equipment, "Les Caselles" aims to make their guests feel less guilty and more responsible. From small gestures to significant renovations, they continuously reinvent themselves in their sustainable and responsible approach to tourism. They have upgraded their heating system, switched to LED lighting, utilize rainwater, installed solar panels, and even have a charging point for electric vehicles.

The table d'hotes (guest table) at "Les Caselles" follows the same principles. They prioritize short circuits, using fresh, local, and quality products to showcase the richness of the Aveyron region and introduce guests to local producers.

Above all, Mikaël and Alizée strive to provide a warm and welcoming experience that embodies the true spirit of an Aveyron house. Their commitment to friendliness and quality sets them apart, making "Les Caselles" one of the finest guest houses in the region. They invite visitors to indulge in "slow tourism" and enjoy picturesque, sporting, and green holidays in Aveyron.
