Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Carrazedo de Montenegro near the Padrela mountains, Quinta dAlagoa spans across 70 hectares (approximately 170 acres) of enchanting farmland and woodland. The primary crops cultivated on this property include chestnuts, olives, and vines.

All of the produce grown on the farm is cultivated using organic farming practices and has been certified by SOCERT, the renowned Portuguese Organic Quality Control entity. Surrounded by fields and forests, the farm features remarkable historic and cultural structures that exemplify rustic architecture.

The former farmhouse, laborers' lodgings, barn, and other outbuildings have been lovingly restored and repurposed for agrotourism, making Quinta dAlagoa a proud member of the Rural Tourism Association (TER).

At the core of this expansive estate lie the farm buildings, which have been proposed as Listed Buildings as a testament to their historical and cultural significance. The Casa dos Moços, Casa das Mulheres, Coberto da Nora, and Casa do Caseiro, which once housed seasonal laborers, showcase traditional rustic architecture and provide a glimpse into the daily lives of the past.

The Lagar do Azeite (olive oil press) and Lagar do Vinho (wine press) have been meticulously restored to their original working condition, preserving their authentic components. The Casa da Quinta, with its six double bedrooms, each equipped with an en-suite bathroom, offers a comfortable and charming stay for guests.

Additionally, the stable has been transformed into a spacious meeting and reunion room, perfect for accommodating large groups.

In addition to the main crops of vineyards spanning three hectares (approximately seven acres), olive groves covering 16 hectares (approximately 40 acres), and chestnut trees spanning 23 hectares (approximately 57 acres), Quinta D'Alagoa also boasts vegetable gardens, orchards, and 10 hectares (approximately 25 acres) of lush water meadows known as Lameiro. The property is also adorned with oak, poplar, and pine woods, adding to its natural beauty.

Since 2001, the farm has embraced organic farming practices throughout its entirety, and its certification from SOCERT ensures that no artificial chemicals, pesticides, or herbicides are used in fertilization or cultivation. Furthermore, the cattle on the farm solely consume natural fodder, furthering the commitment to organic and sustainable practices.

You are welcome to embark on leisurely walks, or for the more adventurous, reserve a bicycle (prior arrangement required) or anticipate horseback riding options available from next summer. These paths offer glimpses into the world of farming, grazing fields, chestnut groves, and even the whispering secrets of serene forests.
