Description for Gite

Le Petit Chambon is a charming gite located in the serene countryside of the Perigord Noir, nestled between the peaceful village of Gabillou and the hamlet of Pauliac. It serves as an ideal home base for exploring the numerous attractions of the Dordogne region, including Hautefort, Sarlat, the Lascaux caves, and many more.

Recently renovated just two years ago, this gite offers a cozy lounge area complete with a wood burner and a fully equipped "cuisine americane" kitchen. The kitchen features a large electric oven, gas hob, coffee maker, kettle, and toaster. If you're feeling adventurous and want to try out new recipes during your stay, we would be more than happy to provide additional equipment, herbs, and spices. Alternatively, if you prefer to unwind and dine out, there are several local restaurants just a short drive away.

The spacious bedroom overlooks the charming courtyard and can be arranged with either a double bed and an additional single bed, or three single beds if you're traveling with friends. The gite also offers a generous "wet room" style shower and toilet, as well as a separate toilet and basin. For your convenience, there is a laundry room equipped with a washing machine. Bedlinen and towels are provided and changed on a weekly basis.

Take time to relax by the pool or enjoy a peaceful moment with a book at the lovely blue table and chairs in the courtyard. Off-road parking is available for your convenience. It's worth noting that the gite was designed with disabled guests in mind, so please feel free to inquire about the facilities when making your booking.

Directions

To reach Les Chambons, there are two main options by car. If coming from the N89 at Thenon, proceed to the main crossroads in Thenon and turn left towards Sainte-Orse. This road will take you through the small village of Sainte-Orse. Continue following the signs for Gabillou, passing through the village and down a hill. Take a left towards Gabillou and follow this road (D70) for approximately 4 kilometers. Do not take the left turn up the hill to Gabillou. Les Chambons will be located just past the tiny locality of Vaudres and below the village of Gabillou. Follow the aforementioned directions to enter the property through the large iron gates.

Alternatively, if coming from Limoges on the D704, take the signpost for Sainte-Orse, approximately 10 minutes past Saint Agnan (near Hautefort). Once in Sainte-Orse center, you will reach a small crossroads with the Hotel de France on the left and the Marie on the right. Turn right and proceed downhill, then take the left turn at the bottom of the hill signposted Gabillou. Follow this road for 4 kilometers, disregarding the left turn to Gabillou. Look for a pretty stone cottage called Le Chambon, which is our neighbor. Les Chambons, the big house, will be on the left shortly after. Drive past the side of the house and make a sharp right turn (slowly!) through the large iron gates into the courtyard. It may require a two-point turn to accomplish this.
