Located in the picturesque Cathar country, Montolieu Book Village is a charming destination nestled between the medieval city of Carcassonne, the scenic Canal du Midi, and the awe-inspiring Black Mountain. This idyllic village is the perfect place to unwind and immerse yourself in cultural exploration, whether you're seeking a few lazy days or an extended stay.Nestled amidst the countryside, at the end of a peaceful road along the river in a stunning valley, you'll find The Forge of Montolieu. This historic building, formerly an old forge and mill, was transformed into a magnificent mansion in the late nineteenth century. Surrounded by a lush park, dotted with ancient channels and secret pathways, the property boasts a remarkable variety of vegetation.
Welcoming you to this enchanting retreat are Charles and Laura Cowen, who offer four spacious bedrooms, each boasting its own unique charm and reflecting the industrial history and "golden age" of the house. Two of the rooms, the goddess and Madame Gazelle, are generously proportioned, featuring a double and single bed respectively. These rooms offer captivating views of the river to the east and the majestic ginko biloba trees and vibrant cyclamen to the west. The Ourika's room, with its two beds, overlooks a mesmerizing waterfall that cascades beneath the house. Lastly, Mr. Wolf's bedroom, with its king bed, provides a magnificent vista of the surrounding nature, framed by one of Europe's oldest Douglas fir trees. All of these delightful rooms are situated on the first floor and are complemented by two large, well-appointed bathrooms.
Guests of the house are treated to their own private accommodations. Delicious breakfast and meals can be enjoyed at the large kitchen table, adorned with beautiful wrought iron, or outdoors amidst the captivating scenery, weather permitting.

Un lieu magique
Un week-end magique dans le Cocoon Tree, une boule douillette et confortable, accrochée dans les arbres à côtés d'un magnifique lac et au milieu d'une nature enchanteresse. Tout est beau, charmant et bon à la Forge de Montolieu. Découvert par hasard pour un week-end surprise improvisé nous sommes tombés sous le charme de ce lieux et de ses propriétaires. Nous avons hâte de revenir nous évader et nous régaler.
