Welcome to this former Cistercian Abbey nestled in the picturesque heart of France, where Saskia and Martijn have been delighting guests for over a decade. Set within a historic complex spanning 5.5 hectares of lush parkland, this magnificent holiday retreat offers a variety of accommodations to suit every preference. From charming guest rooms in the main building, to cozy holiday apartments in the outbuildings, and even romantic gypsy caravans on the forest's edge.

As the sun sets, Saskia and Martijn extend a gracious invitation to their guests, encouraging them to partake in an exceptional dining experience at the table d'hôtes. Whether it's the festive ambiance of an al fresco long table or the cozy embrace of the Grand Salon with its grand fireplace, every evening promises culinary delights. Additionally, special arrangements are available for cooking enthusiasts, golfers, hikers, cyclists, and all those who appreciate the finer aspects of life.

Our philosophy? To provide an intimate and personalized experience, characterized by a warm and inviting atmosphere. We take pride in being a small-scale venue, ensuring that each guest receives genuine care and attention.

Description for Gite

We offer a selection of 6 gîtes, each featuring 2-4 bedrooms, a well-appointed bathroom with a washbasin, a bath, and a separate shower. There is also a separate toilet for added convenience. The open plan kitchen is equipped with modern appliances such as a vitro-ceramic plate, an extractor, a combination microwave, a large refrigerator with a separate freezer compartment, a dishwasher, a Senseo coffeemaker, a kettle, a blender, and a toaster. All necessary cooking utensils and crockery are provided.

Each gîte is equipped with electric heating and offers free Wi-Fi access. While there is no TV, you can enjoy a radio/cassette/CD player for entertainment.

Outside, the gîtes feature a lovely terrace furnished with teak garden furniture, a parasol, and a barbecue, allowing you to relax and dine alfresco.

Our cottages are rented out on a weekly basis and include all necessary bedding and towels (one set per person per week). Please remember to bring your own towels for use at the swimming pool. Additionally, a start package is provided, which includes coffee pads, tea, waste disposal bags, cleaning materials, and toilet paper.

To make your stay even more enjoyable, we take care of the final clean-up, so you can relax and not worry about it on the day of departure. We also welcome pets in our cottages, but kindly request that you consult with us in advance (additional charges may apply).

Directions

Coordinates: 01°4607.35 longitude and latitude 45°5933.10. Upon arrival, we kindly request that you drive up to the courtyard and park your car in the designated parking lot after unloading your luggage.

- If coming from Bourganeuf, take the D941 towards Gueret/Clermont-Ferrand. After approximately 300m outside the built-up area, take a left onto the D 940A towards Bosmoreau-les-Mines. After about 4km, you will see the entrance gate of l'Abbaye du Palais on your right.

- If coming from Guéret, take the D 940 towards Pontarion/Bourganeuf. After passing the Forêt domanial de Chabrières, take a right onto the D940A towards la Chapelle Taillefert. Follow this road for about 18km, crossing the bridge over the Thaurion. After approximately 500m, you will find the entrance gate of l'Abbaye du Palais on your left.

- If coming from Aubusson, take the D 941 towards Limoges. In Pontarion, just before the river, turn right onto the D10 towards Bosmoreau-les-Mines. After 2.5km, turn left onto the D 43 towards Bosmoreau-les-Mines. After 3km, turn left onto the D 940A towards Bourganeuf. Continue on this road for approximately 3km, crossing the bridge over the Thaurion. After about 500m on the left, you will see the entrance gate of l'Abbaye du Palais.
